Drops of Color
Poem

Hidden beneath
a quilt
—patterns of colors
warming
a poem.

Words blanketed in stitches
looking out
for unruffled moments.

A window gives way to stars.

A poem breathes
—a soft rise of blues,
greens, oranges, and yellows
fanned out
highlighting the room.

The sun found its way
adding rays
—a blending of a Universe

a simple poem
becomes…

This poem and picture of the colored quilt, brings to memory what I witnessed with my 2 year old grandson Ayden. We were experiencing another cold winter day a few weeks ago, and Ayden and I snuggled under a colored quilt made as a birthday gift from a friend many years ago. Suddenly, the colors popped in the daylight. His eyes lit up, and he appeared to have a deep realization. Saying no words, just an illumination of something within him. It was beautiful to witness, and simply be in the moments to follow with him. Thank you for bringing this memory to light as I read your poem. I have a big smile on my face, and in my heart.
